On Saturday, October 12th, a traditional autumn festival of spiritual music took place at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Ústí. Throughout the afternoon, we could experience the beauty of choral spiritual compositions from all stylistic periods, with a large part of the repertoire dedicated to the ongoing Year of Czech Music. The packed program featured church choirs from Šternberk, Březolupy, Pacov, and Kameničky, as well as the local Cecilian Music Society. The afternoon block was framed by the excellent performances of organists Ondřej Hitka from Ústí nad Labem and Viktor Darebný from Kutná Hora. At 4 PM, everyone gathered for the Holy Mass, where they sang the pieces rehearsed together. The conclusion of the festival was adorned with the music of Antonín Dvořák performed by the University Artistic Ensemble of Pardubice and the church choir Salvátor from Chrudim under the direction of Tomáš Žídek. The Mass in D major "Lužanská" was accompanied on the organ by Michal Hanuš. The beautiful autumn weather only accentuated the festive atmosphere. We thank all the performers, donors, and sponsors, as well as all the volunteers from the parish for their help.
